About Us

Cathy R. Watson “GiGi’s” Foundation exists because one woman who was battling a rare form of cancer had a vision. Cathy wanted to make a difference in the lives of others her whole life and one way she wanted to give back was by starting her own foundation by helping others who are sick and unable to afford travel cost to various locations for specialized cancer treatment throughout the continental United States. Cathy R. Watson “GiGi’s” Foundation gives hope to families without having to worry about travel cost associated with seeing a specialist. 

Mission Statement

To give hope to others for a brighter tomorrow

Our mission is to provide support to families burdened by medical bills and need options on finding specialized treatment outside of their local area. Individuals will use the funds for out-of -pocket traveling expenses which include transportation, food, and/or hotel expenses.

Services

The planned activities include fundraising, banquets, outreach, cancer awareness, providing assistance to cancer patients, and care baskets to hospitals. These activities help achieve the ultimate goal of providing assistance to cancer patients.

Customers

Individuals with a rare form of cancer that will travel outside of their local region (100 miles or more) for a specialist. We would like to reach out to individuals who are battling a rare form of cancer from the age of 0-65 years old. Eligible individuals will be able to apply for a travel stipend to see specialist of their choice.

Sabrina L. Miller

President

Oversees fund raising operations, and is also the organization’s chief fundraiser. Acting as the primary spokesperson for the organization, recruiting donors, and attending fundraising functions. Act as liaison to the board of directors. Ensure that the other nonprofit officers (the nonprofit secretary, the nonprofit treasurer, and any vice-presidents) are fulfilling their duties. Authority to sign legal documents on behalf of the corporation. This includes the ability to sign corporate checks, although other officers may also have this power. Participate in, or lead, short and long term planning for the organization. This includes developing programs to carry out the goals of the organization, and overseeing the implementation of these programs. Oversees day to day activities and operations.

Therosa Baker

Vice President
College Administrator/ Military Veteran

Sonja Fox

Treasurer
Bachelor’s degree/ manages personal and school funding
Responsible for coordinating and ensuring the financial oversight and financial health of the organization for the board. Attends all board meetings, understands accounting for nonprofits, chairs the finance committee, and manages, with the finance committee, the nonprofit’s finances. The treasurer also works with the nonprofit’s chief executive and chief financial officer to ensure that appropriate financial reports are given to the board on a timely basis, presents the nonprofit’s annual budget for board approval, reviews annual audits and answers board members’ questions. Under the board’s direction, a treasurer may also sign and deposit checks for the nonprofit, and with the organization’s executive director, select an outside auditor for annual audits. Takes meeting minutes, ensuring their accuracy; and maintains the board’s records and archives for future referral by board members or others, such as the IRS. Attend all board meetings, serve on the board’s executive committee if there is one, ensure the safety and accuracy of all board records, review board minutes, assume responsibilities of the chair in the absence of the board chair and vice chair, and provide notice of meetings when needed. Involved with the day to day operation of the organization.

Tanya Smith

Secretary
Manages paperwork for real estate company. Ensures document accuracy and keep records organized
Takes meeting minutes, ensuring their accuracy; and maintains the board’s records and archives for future referral by board members or others, such as the IRS. Attend all board meetings, serve on the board’s executive committee if there is one, ensure the safety and accuracy of all board records, review board minutes, assume responsibilities of the chair in the absence of the board chair and vice chair, and provide notice of meetings when needed. Cecil Watson

Chair/Director
Have served as president of state congress with the North Eastern District of Oklahoma for eight years. Two years as president of the Putnam City Quarter Back Club. Currently serving as Superintendent of Sunday School at the Faith Hope & Love Missionary Baptist Church. Served as NCO in the United States Army during Desert Storm and currently 100% disabled veteran
